A:The issue could stem from one of two causes: either the plug is wired incorrectly, or the vehicle's computer detects higher voltage—resulting in the battery light turning on even though the alternator charges properly. For older vehicles, since the factory-style regulator isn't compatible with the hairpin-style alternator, your high-output alternator comes pre-upgraded with a 15-volt regulator and an oval plug that needs splicing into the factory plug; this simple, quick step is detailed in the manual.
